MassEcon Holds Luncheon for Winners of its 10th Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards

BOSTON, Massachusetts – November 27, 2013MassEcon held its 10th Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards luncheon on November 26th at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel with RBS Citizens as the presenting sponsor. Companies from across the Commonwealth were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the Massachusetts economy. Over 400 people attended the event, including Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Greg Bialecki, Attorney General Martha Coakley, Jerry Sargent, President of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens Massachusetts, and Anthony Everett, award presenter and Emmy Award winning Anchor of WCVB-TV’s Chronicle.

A longtime supporter of the event, Governor Deval Patrick sent his congratulations and well wishes to the honorees. “I commend all of the winners for your outstanding leadership and thank you for choosing Massachusetts. You are the foundation of our economy and represent much of what makes our state a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Governor Patrick.

The 15 winning companies (listed below), including one “Company to Watch,” were selected after site visits and a reception with their competitors and judges at the UMass Club. The reception enabled senior executives from the companies to present their attributes in the categories of job growth, facility expansion, investment, and community involvement. Since January 2012, the winnings companies have added 1,500 jobs to the Commonwealth, invested over $500 million, and expanded their facilities by more than 1.3 million square feet.

“MassEcon is proud to celebrate these companies for staying and growing here. The commitment these companies have made in Massachusetts has long-term economic impacts which are vital to the continued growth of the Massachusetts economy,” said Susan Houston, Executive Director of MassEcon.

In addition to the 15 winning companies, Secretary Greg Bialecki was presented with the organization’s first Public Service Award. “I am very pleased to be receiving this recognition, but I have to say I am especially proud to be receiving it from MassEcon for the great work they do. If you asked me to summarize what I do every day, I would boil it down to say trying to get people to work together,” said Secretary Bialecki.

Representing the event’s presenting sponsor, Jerry Sargent, President of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens Massachusetts said, “RBS Citizens is really proud to be the presenting sponsor of this 10th anniversary of the Economic Impact Awards. MassEcon is an organization that does so much for economic development inside of our Commonwealth. I encourage you to get to know the organization because it is a wonderful advocate for all that is right about Massachusetts.”
