MassEcon Honors Massachusetts Companies for Jobs, Facility Growth, and Investments

BOSTON, Massachusetts – November 24, 2015 – MassEcon held its 12th Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards luncheon today at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel with Citizens Bank as the presenting sponsor. Companies from across the Commonwealth were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the Massachusetts economy. Nearly 400 people attended the event from all regions of the state.

The 18 winning companies (listed below) were selected after site visits and a reception with their competitors and judges in September. The reception enabled senior executives from the companies to present their attributes in the categories of job growth, facility expansion, investment, and community involvement. Since January 2014, the winning companies from across the state, ranging in size and industry, including manufacturing, life sciences, information technology, and travel, have added 2,700 jobs to the Commonwealth, invested over $346 million, and expanded their facilities by nearly 1.7 million square feet.

In addition to the 18 winning companies, MassEcon presented Massport with the Global Leader Award for connecting Massachusetts with the world. Through its airport and seaport, Massport has helped to facilitate trade, tourism and travel which is so essential to the Massachusetts economy, and contributed $15.1 billion in total economic impact this year.

“These companies have demonstrated a shared vision of economic prosperity by expanding better jobs and building stronger communities across all regions and industries of the Commonwealth,” said Governor Baker. “Through these awards we commend the entrepreneurs behind their investments and look forward to remaining reliable and attentive partners in state government.”

“Our event today celebrates growth companies from throughout Massachusetts and we applaud them for staying and growing here, and for their confidence in the long-term future of the Commonwealth,” said Susan Houston, Executive Director of MassEcon.

“Citizens Bank is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 12th Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards,” said Quincy Miller, President of Citizens Bank, Massachusetts.  “The companies being recognized today are expanding, investing and growing here in  Massachusetts, and we join MassEcon in applauding their outstanding contributions to the Commonwealth’s economy.”
