As the flagship scientific institute of the American Dental Association, the ADA Forsyth Institute (AFI) is a globally recognized leader in oral health research. The Institute’s groundbreaking discoveries have transformed how we understand, diagnose, and treat oral diseases. AFI’s legendary community programs (ForsythKids, ForsythCares, and Forsyth Student Scholars) provide outstanding clinical and educational services to residents of Greater Boston. In 2025, the Institute relocated to a LEED Platinum-certified building in Somerville, establishing a purpose-built, 100K+ SF advanced facility designed to support the growth of its core and affiliate programs, with capacity for more than 100 additional personnel. The facility supports rigorous scientific testing for the ADA Seal of Acceptance program, the modernized ADA Forsyth Faculty Associates Dental Clinic, and additional strategic growth initiatives and partnerships. AFI also catalyzes the oral health innovation ecosystem by convening global industry and academic partners to develop and validate cutting-edge technologies through the Institute’s start-up incubator program and dentech, AFI’s annual oral health innovation summit.
