Featured Speaker: David Gibbons, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority

David Gibbons oversees the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, the quasi-public agency whose mission is to generate significant regional economic activity through its portfolio of facilities which attracts international, national, and local events, trade shows, and conferences to the Commonwealth. The MCCA’s portfolio includes the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) in South Boston, The John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in Boston’s historic Back Bay neighborhood, The MassMutual Center in Springfield, The Boston Common Garage and the Lawn On D, an innovative and popular green space and event area adjacent to the BCEC. Under David’s leadership, the MCCA has continued to enhance its mission to create economic growth for the benefit of the state’s  taxpayers and businesses with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service, prudent management and fiscal responsibility, and attracting a diverse array of events which generate three-quarters of a billion dollars in annual economic activity to the state. Prior to taking the helm at the MCCA, David earned an international reputation as a premier hospitality executive with over 25 years of luxury hospitality experience encompassing operations, food & beverage, capital spending, and owner relations. As former Chairman of the Massachusetts Lodging Association, David was involved in the education of future hospitality workers coordinating high school program sponsorships with American Express. David has been a guest lecturer and panelist speaking on luxury in the workplace and the building of e-cultures.
