MassEcon is a powerful private sector voice for marketing Massachusetts as a location for business. Membership in MassEcon offers an organization the opportunity to participate and invest in a unique non-partisan, professionally-staffed enterprise that generates documented economic benefits to the Commonwealth. MassEcon members provide leadership in promoting an image of Massachusetts' economic strength to a global marketplace.
Since its founding in 1993, MassEcon has assisted over 1,200 companies in their search for suitable locations in all parts of Massachusetts. Major companies we have worked with over the past several years include Sun Microsystems, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Novartis, Straumann, 3COM, American Superconductor Corporation, and Merck & Co. among others.
Working with our public sector partners, MassEcon brings a private sector voice to marketing Massachusetts as a place to do business. Its leaders served on the Governor's Economic Development Council, and its Ambassadors – a network of business executives throughout the state – serve as peer resources for companies considering Massachusetts as an expansion location.
In addition to the tangible benefits of attracting and retaining business to and within the state, MassEcon also offers its members a forum to meet and work with a cross-section of peers from various industry segments who share a commitment to the Commonwealth's economic future. The professional exchanges and relationships that develop from working toward this common goal are among the most important benefits of membership.
"Our company has an important stake in the economic health and viability of Massachusetts, and so do our customers. As we looked at ways to leverage economic development, we concluded that MassEcon is uniquely effective...We get a solid return on our investment."Jerry Sargent, President, Citizens Bank
